Moline's General Store

Moline's General store is named for Mr. Walter Moline, although the small meat market was originally owned by G.A. Hanson, who purchased the storefront in Tracy in 1902. As a teen, Walter Moline worked in the store. Hanson sold the market to Moline in the 1930s. He became the local butcher and operated the store alongside his son, Merrill, and grew the small meat market into a proper general store. He retired in 1952 after over 44 years in the grocery and meat market business. The store was then sold to Edward Perseke.
The building holds items that would’ve been purchased by locals. Pantry essentials would’ve included flour, salt, sugar, coffee, and canned goods. Fresh fruit was in stock seasonally. Penny candy, chewing gum, tobacco, and other novelties were also available for purchase.
