    Lake Shetek State Park, Currie MN 56123: 13 miles south of Tracy on County Road 11/38. The word “Shetek” is Ojibwa for “pelican,” a bird that visits Lake Shetek during the summer and fall. The park contains the largest lake in southwestern Minnesota, which forms the headwaters of the Des Moines River.

    Plum Creek Park: County Road 20 & Crown Ave., Walnut Grove MN 56180. 507-859-2005. From west Hwy 14, in Walnut Grove, turn south 1 block and after crossing the railroad tracks, take a right onto County Road 20. Drive one mile west, and then turn south onto County Road 78 for 1 ˝ miles. The park has two separate areas: The Upper Park and The Lower Park. Call 507-859-2491 for more information.
